Think the teamoriganl post said.
Think Lanzini was brought in for the WBA as they would sit back and Moyes hoped his trickery would open them up.

Chigwell - With a bit of luck Rashford might be out. Limped off yesterday and has a knee problem (scan today).

Re: Team for Palace
On the Fredericks debate - he did at least provide two goals against Doncaster by using his pace to get into the penalty area. He was more effective in that sense than Yarmalenko, who almost always - no, I'd say always - has to turn inside on the right wing before either shooting or (most often) passing back because he has no right foot. Fredericks could be useful against Man U because none of our other defensive players has the pace to stay with Rashford. I'd keep him for his speed but reconsider the positions he could be used in.

Re: Team for Palace
Should be said, I thought Benrahma and Yarmolenko showed a better understanding yesterday than Benrahma and Antonio have. I am starting to really like Benrahma in the centre behind the forward.

Agreed about Fredricks. He's not much of a player I'm afraid.Constantly gets caught out of position and recovers with his pace. No real football brain.
Ashby,Johnson and Baptise all look more comfortable on the ball.

Yes, I like the idea of having both Afolayan and Odubeko on the bench, which does seem overloaded with defenders. It does seem a bit harsh on whoever gets left out of the squad though. It would probably have to be Fredericks, who I thought had a decent game against Doncaster, but Johnson has the advantage of being able to play either side. I actually think we should be trying to sell Fredericks - we not only have Coufal and Johnson but also young Ashby coming through.

That will be the starting line up but our subs should be much more positive with the selection. We have a great chance of solidifying our position and making a move on the top six. Progress in the cup allows Moyes to be more adventurous with subs.
The fact alone that Afolayan was in the right place for that rebound is something I feel we have missed within the team and our subs before. He's the leading scorer for the U23's and deserves a place on the bench ahead of Ademipo Odubeko who last played on Sept 8th (scoring 2 ) .
It's that Nathan Holland moment when Diagana took his place in the Leagie Cup. I would have both of them on the bench but don't think that will happen.
There is no need for 6 defenders on the bench. I would even put doubt of having Noble there. He was pretty limited and looked slow against League 1 Doncaster.
I really liked Baptiste, his touch, control and reading of the game looked so much better than Fredricks, even if it was just for 10 minutes. One for the present and future.

Subs: Trott (Randolph injured ?? ):Johnson,Diop,Balbuena;Noble,(Baptiste )Lanzini.Yarmolenko,Afolayan,Odubeko.

has to be the OP team. I love the understanding developing between benny & jimmy. really great movement off the ball

Re: Team for Palace
I'd definitely go with exile's team. Fornals was excellent yesterday, a good finish some sublime touches and a great work rate.

Going to be a tough game

Their new striker is 6"4 and rapid apparently.

Hopefully he will need time to adjust.

Re: Team for Palace
With Arthur still out and playing a back 4, Exile's line up, is the default team setting for Moyes, currently.

Can't see why it wouldn't be.

Would put Afolyan to the bench, in place of a defender.

Re: Team for Palace
Looks good to me, exile son.

Palace will probably try to bully Benrahma, but I think he's been playing well enough to play in the centre. It'll be interesting to see whether he and Antonio can build up an understanding.

I'm hoping that Fornals can get over his nerves in front of goal, because he gets into a lot of goal-scoring positions.

Re: Team for Palace
👍 to Exile’s team.
It’s actually the team that started against Burnley. For West Brom Fornals was dropped and Lanzini brought in. Over recent games, Lanzini looks the weakest compared to Benrahma and Fornals.

Re: Team for Palace
The only possible doubt Moyes seems to have now is sorting out the Fornals/Benrahama/Lanzini option, but fancy he will now see the OP's team as his first choice now.

With Palace I always fancy us more at their place than at ours. A win would put us in dreamland, but a point would be okay.

Isn't Mipo the better player If so he gets the place.
No room for sentiment.

Re: Team for Palace
I wouldn't disagree with that other than picking Odubeko on the bench over Afolayan after he scored on his debut.

It would be worse than cruel.
